...and your children learn the Bible at...

Scripture Stars Studio
(First Through Fifth Grades)
9:45 Sunday Mornings
(Enter the Studio through the Center Hall, Lower Level, First United Methodist Church)

Why is it called Scripture Stars Studio?
The name fits with the way we teach Sunday School. We want everyone to know the focus of our program is on scripture. And, we want the area to look fun to the students.  The "Scripture Stars" are great people of the Bible!
Can you tell me more about Scripture Stars Studio?
We offer age-level appropriate for children in first-fifth grades.   They experience the same Bible Lesson for 5-6 weeks, but with a different activity each Sunday!   Students retain the Bible story as they learn by doing an are excited about coming because it is different and interesting each week!
When and where does the program take place?
The Studios are open every Sunday 9:45 to 10:45. The program is located downstairs in the middle hallway where Sunday School has always been for 1st-5th grades.
Will my children learn about the Bible?
Absolutely!  Lessons have included:
Pentecost and Jesus Calms the Storm
In addition, there will be lessons that cover: Old Testament, New Testament, The Church Year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, etc.) and United Methodist beliefs.
How is time scheduled for the students?
Students meet for 10 minutes in the Director's Studio for an opening, where we will take attendance and an offering. Then each grade level group goes with a shepherd to their learning studio for the rest of the Sunday School time.
What will happen at the various studios?
The program includes the following studios:  Director's Studio (opening), Production Studio (drama), Sound Studio (music), Stunt Studio (Bible games), Special Effects Studio (science and cooking), Graphic Arts Studio (arts & crafts)
How do I know where to take my child each week?
Every week the children need to go to the Director's studio at 9:45 am.  It is located in the center Hall on the Lower Level of our Building.
When and where do I pick up my child?
Scripture Stars Studio ends at 10:45 am.  Children will be in the rooms in the center hallway, or will have been dismissed to find parents at the top of the stairs.

Could I help? -- Oh Yes!  There are many ways you can help with this exciting program. Here are a few:  Studio Teacher/Leader: You pick your favorite area to teach.  Prepare one lesson from the curriculum.   Teach that 1 lesson for 5 weeks. Change the lesson slightly so it "fits" 1st grade one week, 2nd the next, etc, through 5th grade students.   Shepherds:  You come each week for 5 weeks. You will rotate with the same group of children for those 5 weeks as a helper in the class. You will take attendance and hand out name tags, etc. You do NOT teach - you care for our kids.   Decorator:  Help fix up a room so it "fits" the station. Help paint murals that have been drawn on the walls. Or help build a drama setting, or sound stage.  Supplies Person:  As a supplies person you are responsible to make sure each studio has the    needed supplies. Each studio has a supply list. You would be responsible for purchasing those supplies from our education budget (not your pocket), and making sure they're in the appropriate studio.  Most of all - Pass on the Faith!  The time requirements for this program is only 5 to 7 weeks per section. It does not take a huge time commitment to make a difference in the lives of our children. Almost all of us have one or two skills that will make a big difference in the life of a child!
